Hello PGBL Parents and Caregivers! We hope everyone enjoyed the summer and has a smooth back-to-school week next week. Our board is already planning an amazing season of basketball for our community. Please read below for news on Registration and House league information, Upcoming Events and some fun Volunteer Opportunities for anyone who'd like to participate in and help grow the only all-girls basketball league in Plymouth.

Registration:

• Will be open on September 1 for the upcoming winter basketball season that runs from December into March. Registration will remain open until November 1, 2024. We are super excited to do what we do best – create a fun environment for young girls to learn and play the game of basketball!
• Financial assistance is available for families in need. Please reach out directly to James Anderson for more information or to request assistance.
• House League PGBL Divisions:
• Instructional for Grades 1 & 2: Sessions are held on Saturday mornings at PCIS
• Junior Division for Grades 3 & 4: Games played on Friday evenings at West
• Intermediate Division for Grades 5 & 6: Games played on Tuesday evenings at PCIS
• Senior Division for Grades 7, 8 & 9: Games played on Friday evenings at PCIS
• This year the PGBL board is addressing the skill disparity amongst teams we've seen in recent years by not allowing parents or caregivers the ability to swap or move their players to another team based on carpooling. Teams will be created fairly by the board and will ensure a great competitive season with the opportunity to make new basketball friends.

Upcoming Events

• Free Pre-season Open Clinics at PCIS: Players grades 1 through 9 are welcome to practice during our open clinics the week of September 16th. More time detail to follow in the next few weeks.
• Travel team tryouts will be in September instead of October again this year to align with other towns. Tryouts will be the week of September 23rd- further information to come.
• For anyone new to Travel basketball: it is a competitive league for girls that are generally higher-skilled, and more passionate about basketball. The time commitment is greater than the regular House league divisions. You can find more details on the Travel section of the PGBL website. Volunteering Opportunities:

1. Instructional Coaching: the Instructional Program is dependent on parents willing to volunteer. Please consider volunteering for this Saturday morning commitment or this program cannot continue.
2. Open Clinic Volunteers: the board needs help with the large numbers of players we get at these events. Please let us know if you're willing to help with drills and skills at these low pressure events.
3. House League Coaching: We have a need for volunteer coaches at all levels. Please reach out if you are interested. There is a section in the registration process to sign up for volunteer positions.
4. Parents Volunteer Board: Will be helping to sell merchandise during the season and at our big Championship Day event. This helps keep our league running and give back to the players.
5. PGBL Board members: Our PGBL board is looking for a treasurer and a Social Media Chairperson. Please email pgblhoops@gmail.com if you are interested!
